Patient Information

Routine eye exams play an essential role in maintaining healthy vision. For individuals with stable vision and no known eye disease, having a comprehensive eye exam every two years is recommended. During this visit, your eyes will be dilated so the doctor can thoroughly examine the retina, your vision will be evaluated, and you will be screened for a range of eye conditions. If additional evaluation is needed, a more in‑depth exam and any necessary testing will be scheduled.

If you notice changes in your vision between routine visits, you should contact our office promptly to schedule an appointment. Early detection and timely treatment are key to protecting long‑term vision.

Preparing for Your Exam

When scheduling your appointment, be prepared to describe any current vision concerns. It’s also helpful to ask whether your exam may affect your vision temporarily—such as with dilation—and whether you’ll need someone to drive you home. You may want to confirm insurance coverage and payment details at that time.

Before your visit, gather any relevant health information that may help your provider assess your eye health:

Current symptoms (e.g., flashes of light, difficulty seeing at night, double vision, vision loss)
Family history of eye conditions (e.g., glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts)
A list of all medications, including over-the-counter items
History of eye injuries or surgeries (with approximate dates)
Questions about your vision or eye health
Any chronic health conditions, allergies, or recent procedures

What to Bring to Your Appointment

Your current medication list
Your medical or health insurance card
Photo identification
A method of payment for any copay or out-of-pocket costs
